Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) Services

SIRION Biotech GmbH and Vibalogics GmbH have signed a strategic partnership agreement designed to meet demand from gene therapy companies for a start-to-finish adeno-associated virus (AAV) service. The new service offering, available from the beginning of 2018, will allow the two companies to cater to virtually all customer needs for viral vector services, from initial vector engineering and development to GMP production.

As part of the collaboration, SIRION Biotech will provide specialist AAV technology, while Vibalogics will act as its production partner for customers ready to progress to clinical trials. Along with the expanded service offering, the companies will also establish new stringent quality levels for pre-clinical virus batches that will emulate Vibalogics’ GMP production methods. This strategy will ensure that pre-clinical research can be conducted with fully scalable products at ‘GMP-like’ quality, while maintaining cost and time efficiency. Single-Cell Printer for Documented Isolation of Cells in
Clonal Cell Line Development

Molecular Devices, LLC has partnered with Cytena GmbH to launch the CloneSelect™ Single-Cell Printer™ (SCP) in North America. This novel system utilizes sophisticated microfluidics-based technology and real-time image analysis to isolate single cells and provide visual documentation of monoclonality for use in cell line development.

As a part of the clonal cell line development process, cells producing high amounts of the antibody of interest need to be selectively isolated for additional screening. The CloneSelect SCP accelerates antibody discovery by allowing automated isolation of single cells for a wide range of cell types into standard 96- and 384- well plates. The CloneSelect SCP screens for both single cells and for cell morphology immediately prior to gentle deposition in the well, ensuring high cell viability. The use of sterilized, disposable cartridges also prevents any cross-contamination or need for in situ sterilization. For more information, please visit

High-Throughput Metabolic Sequencing of RNA

Lexogen has launched the SLAMseq product family for high-throughput metabolic sequencing of RNA. Lexogen’s kits are based on the new genome-wide, non-invasive, quantitative, fast, and reliable SLAMseq (thiol (SH)-linked alkylation for the metabolic sequencing of RNA) method developed at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) at the Vienna BioCenter in Austria.


Compared to standard RNA-seq, the SLAMseq protocol adds only two extra steps: labeling of the RNA by adding one compound to the culture medium, and pre-processing the total RNA before continuing with a standard RNA-seq protocol. SLAMseq can differentiate between nascent RNA and existing RNA, allowing parallel quantification of total and newly synthesized RNA levels without the need for biochemical isolation. Sampling at different time points reveals the complete in vivo and transcriptome-wide kinetics of RNA synthesis and degradation. For more information, please visit
