Monolith Summer School and Symposium
The Monolith Summer School and Symposium (MSS) is dedicated to the application as well as technical and theoretical innovations in the production and analytics of biological macromolecules and nanoparticles. The event is intended for scientists involved in biopharmaceutical production processes and focuses on process development (PD) and process analytical technology (PAT).

MSS2018 will be held from 15–20 June 2018 in the beautiful coastal town of Portorož, Slovenia. Compared to prior MSS events which concentrated on scientific innovations achieved with monolith separation technology, the 2018 and future MSS events will shift focus to bioprocessing applications best served by monoliths, including the purification of viruses such as AAV, large and minicircle plasmids, exosomes, large proteins, and other nanoparticles. In addition, monolith applications in PAT will be highlighted. For more information, please visit

cGMP-Compliant Testing Facility for Gene and Cell Therapy Products
gene and cell therapy product testing
ACF Bioservices™ (an Absorption Systems® company) announces the completion of construction on its dedicated cGMP-compliant 3400 sq ft facility for gene and cell therapy product testing.

ACF Bioservices develops quantitative cell-based in vitro potency assays to support FDA-mandated product release requirements. These potency assays range from relatively simple protocols to more complex and elaborate designs that determine the mechanism of action of a gene therapy product.
Before the initiation of Phase III clinical studies, the US FDA mandates a validated potency assay, which is a prerequisite for commercial approval. Once an assay is validated, it is transferred into the dedicated and access-limited ACF Core Facility. All instrumentation and equipment is fully validated and staffed with trained operators who follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), all in compliance with cGMP guidelines. At this point, the assay becomes a standard protocol that is routinely repeated to support release and/or stability testing of the gene or cell therapy product, which ensures consistency and conformance to pre-determined specifications for each production batch. Cold Chain Logistics for Regenerative Therapy Requirements
Cryoport, Inc. has expanded its portfolio of cold chain logistics solutions with the launch of its 'Cryoport. Certified. Cool.' solution, which will be branded as "C3 ™", in support of the new high value regenerative therapies that require temperature-controlled transportation within the 2–8 °C temperature range.
Cryoport's C3 shipper offers the first 2–8 °C shipping solution designed for synergistic integration into its intuitive informatics platform, the Cryoportal™ Logistics Management Platform. The C3 solution provides enhanced, real-time visibility, security, and risk mitigation from temperature excursions for the client's critical biological commodities. The introduction of C3 means that Cryoport can support the entire logistics continuum for regenerative medicine clinical, and commercial programs. The C3 solution includes Cryoport's 24/7/365 Client Support, which proactively monitors shipments and takes action to mitigate risks when they occur. For more information, please visit
