Address Antibody Aggregation Issues in Early Development
Aggregation is a common and well-known problem for biotherapeutics during all stages of their production and use. The presence of aggregates has been known to increase production costs and lead to problems with product stability and regulatory compliance. More importantly, aggregation has the potential to be a significant safety risk as it can enhance immunogenicity. Sentinel APART™ platform is a highly-secure, server-based antibody aggregation prediction and re-engineering tool. The tool was built and validated on experimental aggregation data for over 500 antibodies. Using the primary sequence as input, it provides qualitative prediction (High or Low) of aggregation risk for antibodies. The antibody re-engineering functionality of the platform identifies residues that contribute to aggregation and provides a guided approach for suitable amino acid substitutions.

Safeguarding Samples from Potential Thermal Degradation
Genevac has announced the latest version of its proprietary Autostop When Dry control software which allows its EZ-2, Rocket, and HT-Series evaporators to automatically detect when samples are dry, triggering automatic shutdown to safeguard from potential thermal degradation.
Combined with Genevac's continuously running condensers, the control software easily allows unattended operation, offering the possibility of significant increases in productivity through the use of overnight evaporation runs. Previously, users had to constantly monitor or estimate the drying time for a given sample.

The Autostop When Dry control software uses one of two methods to determine when dryness has been reached — by the rate of heat flow into the sample or by temperature convergence using pre-positioned probes in sample holder and sample. Either method gives significant time savings over traditional manual methods as well as freeing up operator time for other more productive tasks.

Rapid Plasmid DNA Purification in Less Than 20 Minutes
Zymo Research Corp. announces three new additions to its ZymoPURE™ line of plasmid prep products. Innovative ZymoPURE technology produces high yields of pure plasmid DNA that is extremely low in endotoxins. The kits are easy to use, provide rapid purification, and complement the existing ZymoPURE midi, maxi, and gigaprep kits.

The ZymoPURE Plasmid Miniprep Kit yields up to 80 µg of ultra-pure and highly concentrated plasmid DNA. Eluted plasmid DNA is ready for use immediately, thereby avoiding subsequent precipitation steps.
The ZymoPURE-EndoZero™ Kit uses a modified alkaline lysis method and a unique binding chemistry that yields highly concentrated plasmid DNA, up to 3 µg/µl. The kit includes EndoZero spin columns that reduce endotoxin levels to 0.025 EU/µg of plasmid DNA.

The ZymoPURE-Express™ Plasmid Midiprep Kit isolates high-quality, endotoxin-free plasmid DNA (up to 1.5 µg/µl) directly from culture in only 15 minutes.
