The Allegro™ STR single-use bioreactors
The Allegro™ STR single-use bioreactors provide outstanding scalable cell culture performance across the working volume 60 – 1000 L. The cubical design and large bottom-driven impeller give enhanced mixing and aeration for numerous cell culture applications. Supported by an extensive package of characterization data, cell culture data and a complete validation guide, process transfers can be well supported. The intuitive handling and semi-automated installation sequence means that bioreactor installation and inflation can be achieved in less than 30 minutes, with minimal operator manipulation required. The reduced height of the systems allows for easy access from floor level to all bioreactor parts. For more information, please visit or email

Next Generation Comprehensive Cell Culture Analyzer
Nova Biomedical announces BioProfile FLEX 2, the next addition to the BioProfile line of cell culture chemistry analyzers. BioProfile FLEX 2 meets the sizable need for automated cell culture analysis for small volume culture systems.
BioProfile FLEX 2 BioProfile FLEX 2’s innovative design provides comprehensive analysis of 16 key cell culture chemistries. The full panel of tests can be run in under four minutes with just 265 μL of sample, and users can select from manual sampling or two modes for batch sampling: 96-well plates or the built-in 24-position tray. Each of the two credit card-sized MicroSensor cards included have a minimum 14-day use life and capacity for greater than 500 samples, reducing maintenance to just minutes per week. FLEX 2 reagent cartridges and MicroSensor cards incorporate RFID technology for simple, snap-in replacement with no additional user input.

Designed for small volume, early stage cell culture development through GMP manufacturing, BioProfile FLEX 2 provides 21CFR Part 11 compliance, OPC connectivity, full networking functionality, and support with all validation needs. For more information, please visit
Manufacturing of Crystal Monoclonal Antibodies
Ajinomoto Althea Inc. has developed Crystalomics® Formulation Technology to crystallize monoclonal antibodies for the purpose of scale up and cGMP manufacturing for therapeutic use. The patented methods are important for successful stabilization, storage, and delivery of biologically active antibody crystals.

Crystalomics Formulation Technology was developed to address the unique challenges that arise during the development of therapeutic antibodies. Because of the size and complexity of these molecules, issues with viscosity, aggregation, and stability are common. Crystalline suspensions may enable alternative routes of delivery that are more patient friendly.

The Crystalomics group works with Althea's clients to produce highly concentrated crystalline formulations with low viscosity, low volume administration, and increased stability. In addition to monoclonal antibodies, Crystalomics technology is applicable across a wide range of molecules: recombinant proteins, peptides, DNA, and antibiotics. For more information, please visit
