Chemiluminescence, Fluorescence, and Colorimetric Imager
From GE Healthcare, the sensitive and robust Amersham™ Imager 600 series is designed to enable capture and analysis of high-resolution digital images of protein and DNA samples in gels and membranes. These multipurpose imagers deliver high-performance imaging to chemiluminescence, fluorescence, and colorimetric applications, and the wide dynamic range allows weak and strong signals to be quantitated accurately at the same time.

Full system automation means that after startup, there is no need for focusing, insertion of light sources, changing of filters, calibrations, or other adjustments. In each capture mode, images are automatically corrected for both geometric and intensity distortion, therefore minimizing the hassle of post-processing for publication.

The seamless workflow allows users to readily detect and quantitate bands, determine molecular weight, and perform normalization. With integrated analysis software controllable via a touch screen device, the results are presented in both tabular and graphical formats, enabling quick and easy generation and analysis of data.

Advanced Particle Counting Technology
Particles Plus, Inc. has released of a new line of advanced-technology, handheld and remote particle counters. Particles Plus enters the contamination and controlled environments marketplace as a premiere supplier of feature-rich particle counters and vacuum pump technology. In addition, the company is establishing itself as an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and private label supplier for other instrumentation manufacturers.

Easy to configure using a 4.3” color touch screen, the Particles Plus handheld particle counters can display up to six user-selectable particle size channels as well as temperature and humidity data. Users can connect and easily integrate into a building automation and cleanroom management system using Ethernet, USB outputs, and wireless 802.11 b/g. With the most-featured and advanced remote particle counters available, particles from 0.225 µm can be measured.

Compact and Efficient Overhead Stirring in Parallel

For more information,

Asynt has developed the Vortex Blend specifically for the requirements of scientists who test new formulations and blends in parallel. Benefiting from a three-way gearbox and integral heating plate, the Vortex Blend not only economizes valuable lab space, but also ensures that parallel experiments have an identical stirring rate and heating rate/temperature conditions, thereby improving result reliability. The Vortex Blend incorporates a standard overhead stirrer motor and hotplate for operation.

Many scientists have established methods for blending and formulation development based upon mixing materials in standard laboratory beakers. These protocols often require heating and powerful mixing to ensure blend/formulation homogeneity. To accelerate formulation development, it is advantageous to perform multiple blending experiments in parallel. Conducting such experiments in parallel can take up a lot of valuable fume hood space. Also, ensuring identical conditions in each beaker can be difficult when using multiple heating/stirring set-ups where motor speeds and heating rates may vary.
