Automated Cell Counting
Bio-Rad has introduced the TC20™ automated cell counter. The TC20 accurately counts a wide range of cell types and sizes, eliminating the subjective, often frustrating aspects of counting with a hemocytometer. Bio-Rad’s automated cell counter provides total and live cell counts for established mammalian cell lines as well as stem cells and primary cells derived from tissue or blood (peripheral blood mononucleated cells [PBMCs], lymphocytes).

Users can reliably analyze complex, mixed-cell populations by gating specific cells of interest with an advanced algorithm. They can also easily analyze and archive data. The TC20 provides custom naming capabilities, automated data export, and the post-count analysis software aids in handling high-throughput experiments.

Next-Generation Nitrogen Vapor Freezers
Chart Industries, Inc. has launched the MVE HEco series of cryogenic storage freezers. Available in several storage capacities, the HEco series provides a 20% reduction in nitrogen usage while consuming 30% less energy than comparable freezers. The HEco product line has been engineered to provide additional functionality along with maximum storage density, industry-leading hold time, and unsurpassed sample security.

MVE HEco high-efficiency freezers incorporate hinged work surfaces that fully enclose all electronics and plumbing to enhance overall safety and usability. These technical and visual enhancements provide a more aesthetically pleasing freezer while offering greater functionality. Heating Block for Pear-Shaped Flasks
Asynt has developed a pear-shaped flask version of DrySyn heating block which is purpose-designed for scientists to perform safe and productive heating and stirring experiments. Pear-shaped flasks are used for evaporating solutions to dryness, post-synthesis, using a rotary evaporator. Solid materials can be scraped out more efficiently than from a round-bottomed reaction flask. Chemists can now eliminate the need for sample transfers between the reaction and evaporator (pear-shaped) flasks, allowing the same flask to be used for both.

Made of chemically resistant, anodized aluminum, the DrySyn heating blocks for pear-shaped flasks (100, 250, 500, and 1000 mL) offer excellent heating performance to over 300°C and can heat a reaction flask 25% faster than an oil bath. Providing excellent heating and stirring performance, but without the inherent risks and mess of an oil bath, DrySyn heating blocks help laboratory scientists create a cleaner, more efficient working environment, and a flexible, safe alternative to using heating mantles.
