Ready-To-Use Stable Cell Lines
AMSBIO has expanded its stable cell line portfolio. The new cell lines express endogenous or recombinant proteins and are available in a ready-to-use format to facilitate your research efforts. Using AMSBIO stable cell lines not only provides an optimized solution for manufacturing therapeutic and diagnostic protein, but also for applications in drug screening, pharmacological research and toxicological studies.

AMSBIO’s portfolio includes cell lines that express: receptors (RAR-α, IGF-1, MLNR); ion channels (CFTR, sodium Nav1.7, potassium Kv1.5); cell signaling (NOTCH, JNK, NF-kB, ERK); phosphodiesterases (aequorin, CNGA2, PDE1B); stem cell-related (LGR5, Oct-4, LIN28); fluorescent (GFP, RFP, CFP, YFP); TetR mAb; luciferase; Cre recombinase/reporter protein; p53 phosphoprotein; and DNA repair (PARP1, MUTYH, MSH2, MLH1, XRCC6, BRCA1, NBS1 antibody).

Ambient Temperature Shipping and Storage of DNA and RNA Standards
The world's largest provider of authenticated biological materials, ATCC, is helping to reduce the cost and environmental impact associated with temperature-controlled supplies of biological products. In an agreement just announced, ATCC will soon begin shipping DNA and RNA standards using DNAstable® and RNAstable® reagents by Biomātrica, a San Diego-based provider of biostability tools.

By implementing Biomātrica’s novel chemical stabilization technology, ATCC and their customers around the world will realize lower-cost cold chain storage and shipping. Research laboratories will receive stable reagents that are not mired by degradation, and will be spared the additional expenses associated with expedited transport of special shipping containers and cooling agents.

Multipoint Scanning Confocal Microscope
Bruker has introduced the Opterra Multipoint scanning confocal microscope. The swept-field imaging scanner allows high-speed confocal imaging of live cell and small organism preparations at resolutions comparable to conventional point scanners, but with minimal phototoxicity.
Opterra includes a second scanner for photo-activation, bleaching, and ablation, which can operate simultaneously with imaging. The photoactivation scanner can be coupled to both visible and multiphoton lasers, thus allowing the use of the full range of photo-activatable molecules and photochemical techniques available to life science researchers. In the case of multiphoton lasers, this provides precise 3-D control over photoactivation.

The applications addressed by Opterra include responses to: DNA damage, kinetics of photoactivatable fluorescent proteins, fluorescence recovery after photo-bleaching (FRAP), local stimulation of channel proteins, and cell membrane damage. Bruker’s Prairie View 5.0 software provides an intuitive interface with a rich environment for defining image acquisition and photoactivation protocols.
