Endonuclease Enzyme for Biomolecular Purification Processes
DENARASE® endonuclease, offered by Sartorius Stedim Biotech, is a genetically engineered endonuclease from Serratia marcescens used in downstream purification processes of biological molecules. Because of its high activity and ease of use, DENARASE is often utilized in the production of viruses and virus-like particles. The enzyme can be added to the cell lysate to rapidly reduce the large amounts of host-cell DNA, and decrease viscosity, thereby rendering the subsequent unit operations like column chromatography and membrane filtration much more economical.

DENARASE is produced under cGMP conditions and exclusively licensed to Sartorius Stedim Biotech by c-LEcta GmbH. Its production is based on recombinant expression in a Bacillus species bacterium strain and is free of animal-derived compounds.

Three New Resins Available for Pre-Packed Chromatography Columns
EMD Millipore has announced the availability of three new chromatography resins for its Chromabolt® pre-packed columns. These pre-validated chromatography columns can come packed with either strong cation exchangers, weak cation exchangers, or strong anion exchangers, freeing up end-users’ time and resources by eliminating manual column packing and cleaning.

Designed for pilot and early clinical-scale manufacturing, the Chromabolt columns are now available packed with these three resins: Fractogel® EMD SE Hicap, Fractogel EMD COO(M), and Eshmuno® Q, in addition to the already available Eshmuno S, Fractogel EMD SO3, and Fractogel EMD TMAE Hicap.

Peristaltic Pump with Weight-Scale Integration
Harvard Apparatus has announced the new P-1500 Peristaltic Pump with Weight-Scale Integration, allowing users to dispense fluids based on units of weight. The peristaltic controller provides communication between the pump and the scale, allowing the pump to query the scale during operation for precise dispensing. The peristaltic controller contains an interface that is compatible with the Mettler Toledo XS series, Ohaus Defender 5000 series, and Ohaus Ranger series scales (sold separately).

The weight-scale capabilities of the P-1500 make it an ideal dispenser for reproductive biotechnology samples and organic solvents. Key features include anti-drip, auto-tare, and slow-down capabilities.
