New Laboratory Balance for Standard Applications
Sartorius has launched Quintix®, a user-friendly, highly accurate standard laboratory balance.  The new balance is available in a choice of 12 models with weighing capacities ranging from 120 g to 5,100 g and readabilities extending from 0.1 mg to 1 g.  All applications are displayed as icons on the Quintix touch screen and can be precisely selected while wearing lab gloves.  The user is guided step-by-step through each weighing process, thus preventing operating errors.

The isoCAL combined calibration and adjustment function on the Quintix alerts the user whenever a defined time or temperature limit has been exceeded and adjusts the balance automatically using an internal weight. Moreover, the Cal Audit Trail function documents every calibration and adjustment operation for 100% traceability in quality assurance.

Growth Media for Bacterial Cultures

BioSilta Oy has launched the first set of products in its proprietary EnPresso® B range of reagent-based growth systems for bacterial cultures.  Results from independent labs have reported that these new products typically increase protein yields by five- to 100-fold, while improving protein functionality when compared to results using conventional growth media. The EnPresso B range incorporates BioSilta’s patented EnBase® technology offering a novel approach to controlling nutrient release during culture growth. EnPresso B, EnPresso B Animal-free, and EnPresso B Defined Nitrogen-free can be used to significantly increase the yield of 15N-labeled proteins for NMR analysis.
