EMD Millipore Extends NovaSeptum Sterile Sampling Product Line

EMD Millipore announces the launch of the NovaSeptum 60 mL bottle for sterile sampling of manufacturing processes. Marked with graduated lines, the new 60 mL bottle allows for accurate measurement of larger sample sizes than currently available syringe configurations.

The patented closed design ensures the product sample will remain isolated from point of collection to analysis, reducing the loss of valuable product. Samples can also be frozen directly in the bottle, eliminating the need for transfer and further protecting product integrity. For more information, please visit www.millipore.com/novaseptum.
Fluidigm Introduces Videos from the Customer's Perspective

Fluidigm has added a new genre — customer web videos — to the array of information available on its website. The videos chronicle customer experiences with Fluidigm technology, and offer a glimpse into the variety of uses for its systems.

Fluidigm develops, manufactures, and markets microfluidic systems for growth markets in the life science and agricultural biotechnology industries. Its proprietary microfluidic systems consist of instruments and consumables, including chips and reagents. These systems are designed to significantly simplify experimental workflow, increase throughput, and reduce costs while providing excellent data quality. BD Biosciences Introduces Chemically Defined Cell Culture Media Supplement
that Increases Biopharmaceutical Protein Production

BD Biosciences has launched BD Recharge, a chemically defined (CD) cell culture media supplement for biopharmaceutical manufacturing that offers productivity comparable to yeast-based peptones.

BD Recharge, which was developed using CHO (Chinese hamster ovary) cell lines, eliminates unnecessary constituents to maximize cell viability and protein production. The supplement is produced in BD's new fully dedicated animal-free/antibiotic-free (AF2) facility. Products manufactured at the AF2 facility are controlled to the tertiary level — all ingredients, including components and subcomponents, are not of animal origin — significantly reducing the risks that can be associated with mixed-use facilities. Techno-Blast Masthead
This image originally made its appearance on the cover of BioProcessing Journal Volume 5, Issue 1 in Spring 2006. The vivid staining shows the detection of apoptosis SK-N-MC neuroblastoma cells. Following a six-hour exposure to hydrogen peroxide, the cells were labeled with Hoechst 33342, tetramethylrhodamine ethyl ester, and rhodamine 110, bis-L-aspartic acid amide for 15 minutes.
